Jeanette Borunda

LCSW

Jeanette Borunda has over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. She is the CIT Clinical Director for the Alamogordo Police Department where she co-created and built its Mobile Crisis Response Team. She is also an independently Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, healing trauma work, intersections of identities, first responders, and military veterans. Jeanette is the Vice President for the Otero County Community Health Council, is on the 100 % Otero Community Initiative Board of Directors, and serves on the New Mexico Education Judicial Committee for the Summit on Improving the Court and Community Response to Those with Mental Illness.

Previously, Jeanette was the Director of Clinical Services of Behavioral Medicine at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center where she established a Mental Health Court and Partial Hospitalization Program. She was also the Vice President for the National Alliance of Mental Illness-Southern New Mexico Board of Directors, and facilitated training workshops throughout New Mexico and Washington. She has presented at the PSRANM Conference, NM Immigrant Law Center, Santa Fe Community College, Gender Odyssey International Conference, Americorps, the Washington Play Therapy Association, and served on the 2017 Gender Odyssey International Conference POC Advisory Committee.
